BBC strike could jeopardise Papal visit coverage

THE possibility that strike action at the BBC could jeopardise coverage of the Papal visit will come as quite a blow to hundreds of thousands who were counting on watching the historic moments unfold on television.

It is a timely reminder to anyone who can make it along to the major Papal events‑be it by lining the streets in Edinburgh for what promises to be a spectacular St Ninian’s Day parade or attending the outdoor Mass at Bellahouston park-to make every effort to do so.

For those who cannot go in person, taking part by supporting parish representatives who can attend as pilgrims would show great solidarity. And for anyone who was counting on watching the BBC coverage, Cross Wires sincerely hope that the powers at the Beeb get their house in order in plenty of time ahead of September 16.
