ARCHBISHOP Elias Chacour of Galilee will speak about conflict resolution in the Middle East at this year’s Festival of Spirituality and Peace in Edinburgh.

He will he speak on The Promise of the Promised Land at St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral on 20 August at 7.30pm.

Archbishop Chacour is working to create his own biblical vision of the Holy Land, in which people of all faiths live together in peace, according to Independent Catholic News.

The Festival of Spirituality and Peace (FoSP) made its debut in 2005, quickly establishing itself as an important part of the Edinburgh Fringe programme before becoming a festival independent of the Fringe in 2007. It is the brainchild of the Edinburgh Inter-Faith Association, the Edinburgh International Centre for World Spiritualities and Creative Space, a project of local churches seeking to promote a dialogue.

A central theme at this year’s Festival of Spirituality and Peace is to treat others as you would have them treat you, often referred to as the ‘golden rule.’

The festival runs from August 7 to 30.
