Cardinal Brady leaves hospital

CROSS Wires welcomes the news that Cardinal Sean Brady has been discharged from hospital after falling ill while celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation in his Northern Irish diocese yesterday.

The Primate of All-Ireland was admitted to Craigavon Area Hospital after becoming ill at a in the parish church of Kildress, Co Tyrone, in Armagh Archdiocese.

The cardinal, 70, was kept overnight at the hospital and discharged this morning. Doctors have advised him to rest. He has been under increased pressure recently in light of questions into clerical abuse  cases and procedures.

“I wish to thank the staff for their kindness and care during my time at the hospital.  I am also grateful for the prayerful support and good wishes that I have received,” he said.
