What do you know about Edinburgh 2010?

Welcome to Cross Wires, the new Scottish Catholic Observer newspaper blog. Cross Wires aims to shine a light on the key issues and breaking news between weekly  editions of the SCO so look in regularly for updates. You will find facts, opinion, analysis and plenty of  food for thought.

If the centerpiece of a global Christian event  that takes place once in a hundred years was being hosted by your capital city you would know about it, right? You would be shouting from the rafters, no?

When Sr Elizabeth Moran came into the SCO offices this week her enthusiasm for Edinburgh 2010 was infectious. Sr Elizabeth is the Catholic representative on SCOT — the Scottish team involved in the organisation the Edinburgh conference being held to the centennial of the World Missionary Conference at Edinburgh, 1910.

There is a great deal more to come before the conference in Edinburgh from June 2 – 6. In the meantime Sr Elizabeth would like to encourage people to offer their support through prayer, in particular this special prayer for the event.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your presence in the world. You touch our pain and warm our hearts with hope. Fill us with the joy of your Spirit and make us faithful messengers of your Gospel. Amen.
